The Koi is a limited mythical pet, obtainable from the Zen Event.

It can be obtained from the Zen Shop after growing Zen Channeller's tree 4 times.

How It Works

Fish of Fortune: When hatching eggs, there is a (0.22 * Weight + 3)% chance to get the egg back.

Cannot recover Premium/Exotic/Rainbow Eggs.

Upon successful activation, the egg is not refunded to the inventory but instead placed back in the place it was hatched from.

Deploy 8 Koi pets simultaneously for maximum egg recovery rates. Each Koi provides ~8% recovery chance (at max weight), creating 64% total recovery rate when stacked. This means 2 out of 3 eggs return on average, making expensive egg farming sustainable. Position all 8 Koi centrally to ensure they affect all hatching locations.

Weight Optimization Strategy

Level each Koi to maximum weight for peak 8% individual recovery rate. Use Pet Toys and Nihonzaru buffs to boost the Fish of Fortune ability further. The formula (0.22 × Weight + 3)% means heavy Koi are exponentially more valuable than light ones for egg conservation.

Selective Egg Management

Focus Koi strategy on Standard, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Divine eggs only. Since Koi cannot recover Premium/Exotic/Rainbow eggs, use them strategically for farmable eggs while manually managing premium purchases. Create separate hatching zones for premium eggs without Koi coverage.

Event Timing Synchronization

Activate Koi army setups during major events when egg demand is highest. During Zen Event farming or Culinarian Chest grinding, the egg recovery becomes crucial for maintaining sustainable farming loops without depleting egg inventory.

1. The Koi and Mochi Mouse pets are currently the only pets that can have different colors, making them the most vibrant pets in the game.

2. The Koi, like the Seal, is locked behind a maximum of 8% chance. Unlike the Seal, due to being a shop pet, they cannot be hatched heavy and grown large enough to reach this limit. Meaning the only way to reach their ability ceiling is through glitches or stacking enough passive boosters. The highest potential for a Lucky Hatch is 64% (8 x 8) (for now can be reached only with a full team of rainbow maxed out koi fishes with base weight above 1kg + pet toys + grandmaster sprinkler) .

3. The Koi's ability description in the shop used to be different, and it was said to increase egg hatch luck instead of having a chance to refund an egg. However, in the player's inventory, it would have the same ability as it does now.

4. The Koi's value used to be bugged, showing as Sheckle 0 when asking Raphael.

5. On 7/26/2025, 7 hours before Update 1.16.0, the Koi received a massive buff in which the pet's recovery rates of an egg more than quadrupled (~0.7% --> ~3.2%).

6. Koi variants will sometimes mix up, making it look like an entirely new variant.
